Whether purchasing or selling a home on septic, it is vital the system servicing your property is inspected by a licensed ROWP (Registered Onsite Wastewater Practitioner) who is certified to carry out inspections, assuring the system is performing properly, meets current standards and meets your needs.
To find a certified septic system inspector in BC please visit:
https://owrp.asttbc.org/rowp-finder/
Here you can search ROWP's by various fields including their name or endorsements (areas they are certified to practice in). A ROWP is only certified to conduct septic system inspections if under "Endorsements" they have PIR (private inspector residential) or PIC (private inspector commercial).
Undetected, unaddressed or ignored septic system issues can quickly compound and ultimately cost significant amounts of money in repairs or replacement. When a system is maintained properly and minor issues are addressed early, costs are minimal and the onsite wastewater system can function problem free for decades.
If you are planning an alteration or addition, or require paperwork for city hall, a compliance inspection is typically the first step.
